Today Is Your Day

Making the decision to come to therapy, choosing a therapist and starting the therapeutic journey can be very daunting and I commend you for taking the first step. 


Consider the following in your own life: What you think, you feel, you live. Therapy can be a space where you explore this interconnection between your thoughts, feelings and behavior. It can be a place where you align yourself with the things that are important to you in order to live the life you deserve. 


The interplay between our thoughts, our experiences and how we respond to the world is worthy of our attention and I feel privileged to accompany people on this voyage of discovery.    

About Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can shed light on how we relate to ourselves and those around us, thus reflecting on aspects of our self-concept and self-esteem.  How you view yourself will have an effect on how you feel about yourself and ultimately on how you respond to yourself and those around you.  Psychotherapy can therefore be a type of meaning making process, whereby one explores the self, the other and how you navigate yourself through the world.
 

Psychotherapy can assist an individual in dealing with a variety of conditions like depression, anxiety, obsessions, compulsions, addictions, eating disorders and traumas.  It can also help in the process of understanding the origin and effects of stress and discord in one’s life.
 

Sometimes our habits or coping mechanisms lose their effectiveness or they become all together ineffective or even destructive.  By exploring past traumas and internal conflicts one can start to pave the way for a more dynamic you that can learn from past experiences, live authentically in the present and grow into your future self.
 

Even though psychotherapy can be a personally challenging journey it often brings us closer to the parts of ourselves that are competent and able to shift.  Through therapy, people undoubtedly learn about themselves, discover ways to overcome challenges and develop inner strengths or skills.  It can feel good to talk to someone and create a confidential space where you can be honest and curious about yourself, relationships and your life in general.  It can also provide a context to deal with serious issues that are affecting your quality of life. 

 

Bio

I'm a Clinical Psychologist in Newlands Cape Town and I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and the Board of Healthcare Funders.


I have been in full-time private practice since 2002. 


As an extension of my work as psychologist I'm also a Life Mentor and Ideas Partner for private individuals and corporates. 


My time is spent mostly in private practice but I also see clients on an in-patient basis in hospitals, clinics or referred by psychiatrists. 


I offer brief, solution focused therapy that would typically require 6-10 sessions, as well as more long term psychodynamically oriented psychotherapy that would extend over a longer period of time if required. 


My clients range from the age of 16 and up and I see people for individual, couples, 

family and group therapy. 


Sessions can be conducted in person or online.
